Chief Financial Officer
The Foellinger Foundation
The Foellinger Foundation has supported Allen County nonprofits since 1958, focusing on mission-driven, well-governed, results-oriented organizations. Due to an upcoming retirement, we seek a Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic leadership and oversight of financial, investment, and administrative operations while ensuring fiduciary integrity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Engage with Executive Team on strategic direction and long-term financial planning
Champion data-informed decision-making and serve as internal consultant to CEO
Foster continuous improvement culture and stay current with market, accounting, and philanthropic trends
Develop and present annual financial and capital budgets
Financial & Investment Management
Support Investment & Finance and Audit Committees in developing investment strategy and policies
Ensure investment manager compliance and oversee all accounting, finance, and treasury functions
Drive process improvements for increased efficiency and effectiveness
Maintain accurate financial reporting, multi-year forecasts, and internal controls
Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and professional advisor relationships
Administration
Oversee HR, payroll, benefits, technology systems, and risk management
Lead digitization efforts to streamline workflows
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance
Conduct financial reviews of grant applicants and organize committee meetings
Mentor and manage one direct report
Ideal Candidate
Required:
Bachelor's or master’s degree in accounting or finance with CPA/MBA preferred
5+ years significant financial/accounting experience
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
Excellent computer skills and current technology knowledge
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and presentation abilities
Commitment to Foundation mission and collaborative work style
Compliance and regulatory oversight experience
Strategic planning leadership or active participation
Preferred:
Nonprofit accounting and philanthropy knowledge
Investment management experience
