Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $86,000–$94,000 annually

Position Summary

 

The Operations Manager is a key leader responsible for strengthening organizational systems across finance, human resources, compliance, and operations. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position oversees day-to-day operational infrastructure, supervises the Assistant Operations Manager, and works across departments to improve efficiency, accountability, and compliance while supporting the organization's continued growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Finance

 

  • Lead monthly financial close activities and support financial reporting.

  • Monitor budgets, expenses, and financial forecasts.

  • Maintain internal financial controls and compliance processes.

  • Support annual audit preparation and auditor requests.

  • Manage grant spending, invoicing, and funder compliance.

  • Oversee operational financial partnerships.

 

Human Resources

 

  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding.

  • Administer employee and contractor documentation.

  • Manage benefits administration and HR compliance.

  • Track required training, certifications, and policy acknowledgments.

  • Supervise and mentor the Assistant Operations Manager.

  • Coordinate AmeriCorps VISTA onboarding and reporting.

 

Operations & Systems

 

  • Develop and improve operational workflows.

  • Strengthen compliance with grant and healthcare funding requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring processes.

  • Partner with staff across departments to improve organizational effectiveness.

 

Organizational Culture

 

  • Support organization-wide planning and policy development.

  • Coordinate culture interviews and annual culture initiatives.

  • Participate in staff development, committees, and learning events.

  • Foster a collaborative, equitable, and growth-oriented workplace.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 3–5 years of nonprofit or business operations experience.

  • Experience in finance, human resources, and compliance management.

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit budgeting, grant management, and financial reporting.

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Asana, Gusto, Brex, or similar systems.

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Commitment to food justice, equity, and community impact.

 

Compensation & Benefits

 

Salary: $86,000–$94,000 annually, based on experience.

Reporting Relationship
