About the Regions Hospital Foundation Executive Director Opportunity

 

The Role

 

The Executive Director of Regions Hospital Foundation leads the Foundation’s philanthropic efforts. This Executive Director leads philanthropic support initiatives to improve health and well-being and promotes partnerships through innovation, creativity, and technology. Additionally, the Executive Director will partner with others within HealthPartners and the community to identify and help address gaps in the care continuum. The Executive Director is responsible for sustaining and nurturing trust and compassion by ensuring all Foundation decisions and actions are in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

 

The leader is responsible for Foundation board relations and leading board meetings and activities to achieve goals. This individual will engage patients, families, and community partners to build upon the legacy of securing philanthropic support to improve the health and well-being of our community. Key responsibilities include maximizing major giving support for Regions Hospital. In coordination with the Vice Presidents of Advancement and other foundation executive directors, provide leadership for Regions-specific strategies for other philanthropic activities such as: annual, capital and endowment fundraising programs, planned giving, corporate and foundation relations, special events, volunteer committees, donor relations, and stewardship.

 

Working with others within HealthPartners and the community, the Executive Director is responsible for sustaining and nurturing trust and compassion by ensuring all Foundation decisions and actions are in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

 

Scope of Responsibility

 

  • Set strategic course and vision of philanthropic advancement that is in alignment with the mission of Regions Hospital and HealthPartners in collaboration with the senior leadership team.

  • Lead the engagement with the Foundation Board and its associated committees to ensure alignment with the mission of the Foundation and HealthPartners.

  • Provide leadership to the Foundation Major Gift team.

  • Partner with the Foundation staff, hospital leadership, and Foundation Board to identify philanthropic opportunities that will ensure future success and vitality.

  • Oversee Foundation initiatives, donor relations, community partnerships, and other key stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs, seek opportunities for expansion of outreach and projection of future organizational growth and impact on community benefit.

  • Lead the annual planning, financial, and reporting needs of the Foundation.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 

The Executive Director will report to the President of Regions Hospital and serves a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

 

This leader will have direct oversight of a major gift fundraising team which includes the following direct reports:

 

  • 2-3 Major Gift Officers

 

The Executive Director will receive support from and work in strong collaboration with the Vice Presidents of Advancement and the shared services and operations teams supporting the eight HealthPartners Hospital Foundations across the system.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing thoughtful, strategic, collaborative, and effective leadership in philanthropy. They will be passionate about and successful at finding solutions to complex healthcare issues and creating sustainable positive impact. Skilled at fostering a collaborative, motivating, thriving workplace environment for high achieving teams. Experienced in funder engagement, grant administration, and board engagement.

 

The Executive Director will demonstrate the following skills and characteristics:

  • Fundraising Professional – Senior-level fundraising professional with major fundraising campaign experience, knowledgeable of fundraising best practices, has a goal to diversify funding sources and possess the ability to navigate different constituencies.

  • Business and Professional Expertise and Execution – Applies specialized knowledge to achieve results, innovate, develop, and execute workable plans to achieve objectives, identifies problems and solutions, responds quickly to issues and requests, follows through on plans, commitments and agreements, applies knowledge and expertise in continuous improvement tools and methodologies.

  • Patient/Member/Customer Centered – Proactively and consistently seeks to understand our customers/members/patients, does work and leads work from a customer/member/patient perspective, empowers staff to meet customer/member/patient needs.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in business, marketing, healthcare administration, non-profit management, or related field.

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including demonstrated success in resource development, experience in healthcare is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and garner support through annual and major giving, planned giving, corporate/foundation relations, and capital campaigns.

  • Ability to select, supervise, inspire, and lead a professional major gift team.

  • Experience working within an increasingly complex environment at senior levels.

  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, forecasting and fundraising tracking, and reporting. •

  • Effective and efficient in building budgets, managing resources, and reporting outcomes to build and expand a fundraising program.

  • Demonstrated skill in governance and board development. Ability to recruit key community and business leaders to the Foundation Board.

  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills associated with successful development officers, which include outstanding writing and verbal communication skills, sound judgement, demonstrated initiative, positive attitude, personal integrity, confidence, political savvy, and a style which will foster effective relationships with Foundation Board members, donors, patrons, community leaders, and others.

 

LOCATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

 

The primary office is in St. Paul, Minnesota.

 

The expected compensation for this role is $220,000 – $250,000 range plus incentive. The actual base salary may be adjusted based on the following considerations: jobrelated knowledge and skills, and experience. Details on the comprehensive benefits plan offered will be provided.
