Founded in 1951, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has helped shape the region's philanthropic landscape for more than 75 years.
Today, CFGA:
Stewards approximately $1.8 billion in assets
Serves a 23-county metropolitan region
Employs approximately 50 staff
Partners with donors, nonprofits, corporations, and civic leaders
Provides donor-advised funds, scholarship funds, agency funds, grantmaking, philanthropic advising, impact investing, and community convening

Position Summary
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO serves as the Foundation's chief executive and public ambassador.
The CEO will provide strategic, operational, and philanthropic leadership while strengthening organizational effectiveness, expanding donor engagement, developing partnerships, and advancing the Foundation's commitment to equity and shared prosperity.
Key Priorities
Lead with Trust
Build strong relationships with donors, staff, board members, nonprofits, civic leaders, and community partners.
Serve as a visible and trusted ambassador throughout metro Atlanta.
Empower a High-Performing Team
Foster collaboration, accountability, and organizational clarity.
Develop and support a talented leadership team.
Strengthen culture through transparent communication and shared purpose.
Advance Strategic Leadership
Refine organizational strategy and priorities.
Translate ambitious goals into measurable outcomes.
Align people, systems, and resources for long-term success.
Strengthen Operations
Ensure strong financial management, technology, reporting, governance, compliance, and internal controls.
Build the operational capacity required to support continued growth.
Expand Donor Engagement
Champion community philanthropy and local impact.
Grow relationships with current and next-generation donors.
Strengthen partnerships with professional advisors and philanthropic families.
Differentiate CFGA through trusted local expertise and civic leadership.
Advance Equity & Community Impact
Lead efforts that promote equity and shared prosperity throughout the region.
Convene partners around complex community challenges.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will bring:
Executive Leadership
Significant executive leadership experience leading a complex organization.
Strong strategic planning, organizational leadership, and operational management skills.
Experience working effectively with governing boards and executive leadership teams.
Philanthropic & Fundraising Experience
Experience in philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, community foundations, financial services, or another mission-driven organization.
Demonstrated success cultivating donors and building long-term philanthropic relationships.
Strong understanding of strategic philanthropy and resource development.
Relationship Building
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to engage donors, civic leaders, nonprofit partners, public officials, and community stakeholders.
Proven ability to build trust across diverse constituencies.
