Founded in 2001, Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee (HPGM) has spent the past 25 years building a stronger future for Latinos across Wisconsin through leadership development, educational investment, and meaningful community connections.

 

Today, HPGM serves as a catalyst for professional and educational achievement, connecting more than 6,300 members and collaborating with more than 100 employers and community organizations to expand opportunity across the state. Through leadership development, professional networking, educational investment, and strategic partnerships, HPGM creates pathways for Latino professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and leaders to achieve their highest potential while strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce and economy.

Position Summary

 

The Executive Director serves as the chief executive and visionary leader of Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for advancing HPGM’s mission by expanding the organization’s statewide impact, strengthening organizational capacity, ensuring financial sustainability, cultivating strategic partnerships, and serving as the primary ambassador for the organization.

 

The Executive Director inspires and empowers Latino professionals at every stage of their careers while ensuring members have access to the opportunities, resources, and tools needed to achieve greater levels of professional and personal success. This leader is responsible for maintaining a healthy organizational culture, overseeing operations and programs, fostering innovation, and demonstrating a vibrant presence throughout Wisconsin’s business and civic communities.

 

The successful candidate is a strategic, forward-thinking executive who possesses exceptional leadership, relationship-building, analytical, and communication skills while embodying the mission and values of HPGM.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

Fund Development and Financial Performance

 

  • Maintain the fiscal integrity of HPGM, including preparing and submitting an annual operating budget and monthly financial statements that accurately reflect the organization’s financial condition.

  • Operate within the approved budget while ensuring maximum resource utilization and maintaining the organization in a strong financial position.

  • Lead resource development, fundraising planning, and implementation by identifying funding needs and establishing strategies to secure philanthropic support.

  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with Milwaukee’s donor community, including major individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.

  • Cultivate, expand, and steward a major donor pipeline to support long-term organizational sustainability.

 

Human Resources, Operations, and Programs

 

  • Empower leaders from historically underrepresented communities.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities for staff while fostering a strong leadership culture aligned with HPGM’s mission.

  • Lead strategic planning efforts to ensure HPGM successfully fulfills its mission and remains positioned for long-term growth.

  • Oversee implementation of HPGM’s programs and services while maintaining strong relationships with educational institutions, corporations, and foundations.

  • Understand community needs and ensure HPGM continues to play a meaningful role in addressing those needs through collaborative partnerships.

 

Community Engagement and Public Relations

 

  • Foster and promote positive community relationships while serving as the organization’s primary spokesperson with media and external audiences.

  • Lead the organization’s marketing and public relations strategy.

  • Represent HPGM’s mission, culture, and values with authenticity among community stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Board of Directors, senior staff, business leaders, community organizations, employers, and members.

  • Maintain productive relationships with government officials, donors, educational leaders, community groups, media representatives, and other key stakeholders.

 

Board Relations and Governance

 

  • Lead the organization in alignment with HPGM’s mission, core values, and strategic direction established by the Board of Directors.

  • Communicate openly and provide timely, accurate information and documentation that enables the Board to make informed, proactive decisions.

  • Partner with the Board to develop strategic policies and oversee their successful implementation.

  • Support effective governance practices while maintaining productive relationships with Board leadership.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Demonstrated commitment to serving as a resource for Latino talent, leadership development, advancement, and excellence.

  • Passion for advancing economic and social opportunity for Latinos throughout Wisconsin.

  • Familiarity with the Latino professional community and business landscape in Southeastern Wisconsin is preferred.

  • Ability and willingness to remain informed regarding relevant legal and regulatory requirements while partnering with external specialists to ensure organizational compliance.

  • Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong ability to navigate complex community relationships and build collaborative partnerships.

  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and public relations skills in both English and Spanish.

  • Minimum of five years of professional supervisory and executive management experience or equivalent leadership experience.

  • Thorough understanding of nonprofit governance, finance, operations, and organizational leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.

  • Ability to travel as needed.

Salary

 

  • Starting annual salary of $100,000.
