About the Organization

 

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch is a nonprofit and a recognized leader in mental health care for children and families. YBGR staff work with close to 1,200 youth across Montana who struggle with controlling emotions and behaviors. Since 1957, the organization has served more than 10,000 youth and families through residential services in Billings, community based services statewide, and the Yellowstone Academy.

 

Position Summary

 

The Chief Financial Officer oversees all financial operations of the organization, provides strategic guidance to the executive team, and safeguards the organization's financial health. The CFO drives financial strategy, optimizes performance, and protects assets.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

• Manage all financial resources of the organization and make decisions that support growth, including budget and financial planning

• Prepare financial reports on organizational performance for the CEO and Board of Directors

• Lead preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets

• Assure completion of annual audits by established board and contract due dates

• Advise the Executive Leadership Council and Board on all laws and reporting requirements related to financial operations

• Review and update all financial policies and procedures annually

• Oversee employee benefit plans with emphasis on a cost effective package

• Maintain appropriate property and liability insurance coverage

• Maintain speed and accuracy of billing and client payments

• Provide leadership and supervision to the accounting department, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective action

 

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting

• Ten years of professional experience in a leadership role in behavioral healthcare or public accounting with healthcare financial management experience, including a minimum of five years at the senior leadership or executive level

• Experience supervising and mentoring an accounting team of five or more professionals

• Experience upgrading legacy financial architectures and aligning technology investments with organizational strategy

• Demonstrated strength in financial strategy and planning, financial reporting, cash flow management and budgeting, and risk management

• Exceptional data analysis, negotiation, and executive level communication skills

• Age 21 or older

• Must pass a criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana
