About The Citadel Foundation
The Citadel Foundation (TCF) was established in 1961 to provide philanthropic support for The Citadel. Since consolidating campus fundraising in 2000, TCF has become the institution's primary fundraising organization, supporting scholarships, faculty, academic programs, facilities, and other institutional priorities.
The Foundation:
Manages more than $300 million in assets.
Raises approximately $52.5 million annually in philanthropic support.
Provides roughly $30 million each year to advance The Citadel's mission.
Employs 38 staff members supporting fundraising, finance, operations, and advancement.

The Citadel is one of six senior military colleges in the United States and is nationally recognized for leadership development and academic excellence.
The institution includes:
Approximately 2,300 Corps of Cadets.
Approximately 1,000 graduate and civilian students.
31 undergraduate majors and 57 minors.

Position Summary
The President & Chief Executive Officer provides strategic and operational leadership for The Citadel Foundation and serves as its chief executive.
Working closely with the Foundation Board, The Citadel President, donors, alumni, and institutional leadership, the President & CEO oversees fundraising, finance, operations, board relations, marketing, human resources, technology, and organizational strategy.
The President & CEO also typically serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement for The Citadel.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
Partner with The Citadel President, Foundation Board, and institutional leadership to advance fundraising priorities.
Coordinate fundraising efforts across affiliated Citadel organizations.
Build relationships with alumni, donors, corporations, foundations, and community leaders.
Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward major and planned gifts.
Lead and develop a high-performing advancement organization.
Oversee organizational operations, finance, HR, technology, communications, and marketing.
Ensure fiscal integrity, compliance, risk management, and sound governance.
Partner with the COO/CFO on budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and internal controls.
Work with the Investment Committee regarding endowment and investment management.
Serve as staff liaison to key Board committees.
Recruit, develop, and support an engaged Board of Directors.
Maintain a portfolio of top-level donor relationships.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
Commitment to The Citadel Foundation's mission.
Senior leadership experience within higher education advancement and/or nonprofit philanthropy.
Significant fundraising and campaign leadership experience.
Experience with board governance and board development.
Financial management and budgeting experience.
Experience leading large, high-performing teams.
Strong organizational, strategic, and leadership skills.
Excellent relationship-building and communication abilities.
High degree of professionalism and integrity.
Understanding of South Carolina higher education and governance is preferred.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Minimum of 10 years of progressive executive leadership experience.

The Citadel Foundation Board of Directors.
Works closely with:
The President of The Citadel.
Oversees:
38 staff members.
Seven direct reports, including: 1) Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer; 2) Vice President of Legacy, Annual & Reunion Giving; 3) Vice President for Athletics; 4) Associate Vice President of Principal Giving; 5) Associate Vice President of Major Gifts; 6) Executive Assistant/Board Liaison; and 7) Executive Director, Citadel Brigadier Foundation
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $350,000–$360,000
